This portfolio includes replication technologies EMC RecoverPoint, and Replistor, management software Data Protection Advisor, and Replication Manager, EMC PowerPath and data protection product EMC NetWorker. In 2006 Sorenson spearheaded EMC’s acquisition of EMC Avamar, which under his leadership became the market leader in backup deduplication. In 2009-11 Sorenson was the General Manager responsible for EMC’s mid-range storage array product line. In this role he directly managed over one thousand engineers and support personnel and drove the development of EMC’s VNX™ family of storage arrays —which was the result of converging EMC’s industry leading CLARiiON® storage area network (SAN) storage and EMC’s Celerra® network attached storage (NAS) system into a single, unified mid-range product line. The VNX series offers superior performance, capacity optimization, storage efficiency and comprehensive management functionality, while exploiting the benefits of Solid State Drives (SSD).
