Hello, my name is Mark Earley. I am serving my second term as Leon County's Supervisor of Elections, continuing a long career of service to the citizens of Florida's Capital County. From my start in the fall of 1986 as the custodian of Leon County’s fleet of lever voting machines, through the deployment of Leon County’s paper ballot voting system, on through the infamous 2000 election cycle, six years working on the vendor side of elections supporting jurisdictions large and small across America, back to Leon County as Voting Systems Manager, and now completing my second term as the elected Supervisor of Elections, I have seen a broad arc of improvements and a few setbacks in the industry. Over the years I have helped design, certify, and deploy several innovative election technologies and systems including ballot-on-demand, chain-of custody, inventory management, voting, and post-election audit systems. I have served in all roles on the Executive Committee of the Florida Supervisor of Elections, including as President for the 2022/23 term. I also now serve on the Executive Committees of both the EI-ISAC and the Election Assistance Commission’s Local Leadership Council. My 30+ years in the public sector managing hundreds of elections, coupled with years of experience on the vendor side of elections, have given me a unique perspective on how best to successfully utilize the limited resources of staff, technology, time, and money to avoid or mitigate the many troubles that can plague elections. As Leon County’s elected Supervisor of Elections, I serve with the full knowledge that I work for the citizens of this community. I am humbled that they have entrusted me with protecting their voice in our democracy.
