Remax Boardwalk was a franchise that I purchased in 2005 to strategically increase Landmark Financial's presence in the Chicago land area's Real Estate Purchase market... I chose Remax as their business plan allowed us to provide our realtor partners with office space and support in exchange for their client's mortgage lending needs.... Remax Boardwalk was sold, along with Landmark Financial in 2008... As a business owner, its vital to understand when to capitalize on market trends, and even more importantly, when to bail out of a market place before the losses become your own. This was a perfect example of understanding both approaches... We built both Boardwalk and Landmark from the ground up, and each company was successful enough to change our family's lives, while at the same time bankrupting the organization that purchased them within 6 months!

From February of 2000 to May of 2004, Landmark Financial went from being a local mortgage broker with 20 employees to having a National presence with its own line of credit, allowing Landmark to fund its own closings transactions, completing the transition from a broker to an actual Mortgage Banking company. Through this process, Landmark expanded its lending abilities to 38 states with 110 loan officers with offices all over the country.,. In 2005, Landmark Financial made its way into the purchase market with myself and the President of Landmark Financial investing in a Remax Franchise, which I named Remax Boardwalk. In 2008, 4 years after adding Remax Boardwalk to the mix, the real estate bubble was staged to erupt. It was at this time that Remax Boardwalk and Landmark Financial were sold to the same organization that bought our 4 story office building 2 years before... Needless to say, management was the key to the 2 company's success, and the 2 companies were bankrupt 6 months after being sold to the new organization... Timing is everything I guess...
