After graduating from California State University at Long Beach, I moved to Washington State and began my career as a Firefighter/EMT in 1980. The majority of my career was in Woodinville, WA. I was then elected as a Fire Commissioner (six-year term). I then served a three-year contract as Fire Chief with the East Valley Fire Department in Yakima County, WA (Fire District 4).
