I have a PhD by research in fundamental ion chemistry, followed by a successful career in research as an explosives chemist and forensic scientist (research), as evidenced by numerous publications in peer review journals. I have also obtained a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from The International Graduate School of Business, University of South Australia. The skills developed from these studies I have put into practice during my positions within Defence Science and Technology Group as Deputy Director of Strategic Engagement (DDSE) and as Director Science and Technology Program (DSTP); in the latter appointment I led the creation of a PMO [and related governance structures]. Throughout my career I have placed a great emphasis on seeking collaborative opportunities and building and maintaining good relationships with clients, leading scientists and Defence enterprise.
