As a Town Councillor I am jointly responsible for the promotion of the council itself, but also to represent the members of my immediate community. Much of my work involves encouraging both the Borough and County Councillors to work on behalf of residents, and communicating with the electorate. I recently led a project to deliver Andover's first Pride Event, utilising organisational, motivational, and communicational skills, which I completed whilst also finishing my OU studies. Time management was critical, as well as building relationships and negotiation.

A little over two months. It doesn't sound a lot and if I am honest, it wasn't. I successfully led a migration from till based sales to self-scan sales by utilising people management and organisational skills. I exceeded expectations and dealt with any and all customer satisfaction issues that arose.

OK, so being a Section Leader didn't suit for a variety of reasons that I'll not expand upon here. Now I am working on the front end, a posh way of saying checkouts. I tend to be found by those pesky self-service tills that everybody hates yet still uses. This utilises my Customer Service skills, my Communications skills, quite often my First Aid skills and a very thick skin. I am blessed with managers (read into that as you wish), but it's round the corner from home, so convenient.Still dreaming of receiving an offer worthy of serious consideration (but who isn't) to utilise my existing management and leadership skills.

My time in the Trading Law Colleague role saw my exposure to store management enhanced and my knowledge of in-store processes greatly developed. This has seen me accept a temporary promotion (though I hope it will become permanent).I am now responsible for the management and delivery of all the company processing tasks in relation to the ambient department. This includes inventory management, a degree of stock control, availability of products and the not insignificant matter of leading a team.

An internal transfer saw me take up a position in the Administration team where I became responsible for completing all the Trading Law functions for the store. This business critical role required me to complete a significant number of tasks to a high degree of accuracy and within prescribed time limits. It was essential to have very good communications, negotiation and time management skills coupled with an eye to detail and the ability to identify and manage risk.I continued to deliver the Driver Training/Assessment part of my previous role as it was essential to the operations of the home shopping department.

I am involved in the entire process of home shopping delivery from picking to doorstep. Additionally I have been charged with designing and delivering an in-house training package for new drivers which includes driving assessment as well as refresher training for established drivers.My main focus is on enabling staff to understand the various processes and to work within them to enhance personal performance in relation to section goals and targets. Using a balanced scorecard approach I encourage strengths, identify areas requiring development and an agreed approach to achieving developmental goals.The overall objective is to reduce staff turnover, increase departmental efficiency and reduce costs incurred through damage to vehicles, customer complaints and other factors.*Worth noting that many of my ideas weren't adopted and driver retention is still horrendous
