Based the concept on the requirements of a highly automated driving vehicle system, and included requirements from other domains and testing areas. Developed a conceptual strategy for end to end delivery of vehicle operations; logging, calibration and rapid prototyping on vehicles, using a common platform; across domains. Lead the Squad through the complete AGILE process, through 5 x 3 month product increments, developing roadmaps and alignment of within the Scaled AGILE concept.

Continued role of developing and running the prototype vehicle operations, now as the manager, responsible for developing the operation into workshop to support the rest of the departments production vehicle operations for validation and sign off testing.During this period JLR launched the new iconic Defender vehicle, as the lead programme for a new AAD system, and was responsible for establishing of the role of Measurement Technique (MT) support for production systems testing and development; and extending this role to include Ground Truth (GT). Highlights include setting up and supporting a real-time remote-witness testing system for feature homologation.

Responsible for design, delivery and operation, of Jaguar Land Rover 1st small fleet of highly automated vehicles, based off the Discovery vehicle platform and EVA1 electrical archiecture. Building on work done by JLR Research Dept., setup and ran the team that designed a general purpose 'closed loop' control system vehicle robot; used as a host for several different suppliers-sourced and inhouse-developed control systems, for advanced motion systems development, automated parking, and investigation of lane change and / driver & vehicle automation handover at motorway highway speeds (~130kph).

Responsible for setting up and running a team of Control system and Software Engineers, tasked with developing from scratch the high-level functionality for a ADAS L2 production system based off a supplier-delivered sensor / ECU platform / and low-level software stack. Recruited and ran team of ~20 engineers across US, Europe and India; responsible for all aspects of function concept design and development, quality processes, technology decisions, AGILE project planning, reporting and vehicle demonstrations.Project has shelved after 2 years of successful development, showing key L2 assisted Cruising features, and driver-initiated lane changes, in leu of full system delivery by a major Global Tier1.

Lead a small team of software and control system engineers, taking ownership of established production software function developed outside JLR, bringing it in house. 15k lines of hand coded 'C', production software, legal requirements, embedded on all production Land Rover branded vehicles and Jaguar SUV's. Hosted on Tier1 ECU, responsible for design of the hosting concept, interface, end to end development, interface to test and calibration team. 4 years of continual develoment, nearly 1M vehicles produced, responsible for production software release, no production recall or alert. Included working with Indian-based subcontract SW team. Simulation, SIL, HIL and vehicle testing, requirements, specification, test, development and release.

Consultant in Systems Engineering, Requirements management, UML modelling, and architecture, for Pi Technology based at Milton Hall, Cambridge, UK. Based on site in Cambridge and Jaguar Land Rover's offices in Whitley, Coventry, and Gaydon. Worked across the Infotainment and Chassis Electronics domians; highlights include working on the early stages of a new JLR / Ford / PAG (premier auto group) infotainment system, and development of a top down architecture description of the chassis electronics domain. Some of the work was published in an International Journal. Luckly to work alongside specialists from across the wider Ford company as part of a pan-domain architecture project.

Made redundant as part of company-wide down sizing as a result of the loss of a major customer contract. Applied theory of real time control systems using dSPACE HW and SW tools, and C code development in ETAS ASCET-SD.

Very fortunate to work alongside highly motivated and experienced engineering and commerical managers looking to run the team as a new 'start up' business. Learned a lot about running your own hi tech company.
