Mark started his career in the insurance industry in 1980 and became a Fellow of the Chartered Insurance Institute of London, by examination, in 1987. In 1996, Mark attended the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, California where he completed an Executive Programme for Growing Companies.He was appointed Managing Director of a leading short term insurance broking company, Aon Chemoil, in 1996 and left this position in early 1998 to establish his own insurance broking business, Floyd & Associates.During their first two years of trading, Floyd & Associates secured the appointment as the short term insurance broker to the Sasol and Vodacom groups. Their unique approach to servicing leading South African organisations with global footprints attracted the attention of Willis Limited, one of the three global insurance broking operations. During 2000, Mark sold 70% of Floyd & Associates to Willis and the business was renamed Willis South Africa. The business developed over the following six years to become the leading corporate broking specialist and added to its client list the likes of Nampak, BHP Billiton, Barloworld, PPC and Lonmin.After having sold his remaining interest in Willis South Africa he left in 2007 to spend time with his family on the north coast of KZN.At present, Mark runs a consultancy business and is a non-executive director of a number of companies.
