Lab4Tech is a training facility for IT personnel in search of employment (60 employees and trainees)• Set up a service desk with full documentation and with most roles performed by trainees with varying degrees of experience, from entry level to expert, and present for three months.• Prepared arrival of an average of four new users per week including their AD user account, machine and workplace. As much as possible was automated with PowerShell. Other team responsibilities performed on Linux were also automated with Perl, sh, SQL and the make utility.• Made a wide variety of presentations to trainees to have sound understanding of technical issues (PowerShell, the Unix command line, use of schematics, regression testing technique, IPv4 addressing).• Mentored participants in 3-month traineeships (400+ in 15 years).• Administrative tasks: schedules, contact with stakeholders, following up on issues, final reports.• Managed team issues, from interpersonal conflicts to individuals facing stress and worry.

ISDC is satellite data processing center for European Space Agency (ESA) astrophysics research• Obtained agreement from both on-site developers and those in foreign institutes to adopt the proposed testing standards, thus improving quality.• Responsible for a 400-component code base and interfacing with 50 developers from 12 foreign institutes to ensure quality of the software prior to acceptance.• Developed web-based automated compilation and testing tools for deployment to multiple platforms (Solaris/Linux/Mac). The system revealed new bugs earlier, and reduced team stress.• Implemented a means of safely upgrading online testing tools used by developers. This allowed complex improvements to be made in a fashion transparent to the users.

CAE is a vendor of control systems for electric power grid operators• Team Leader (2 yrs): technical leadership, design/coding reviews, team scheduling (Australian project).• Project Engineer (1 yr): stakeholder meetings, bug tracking, project scheduling (Hawaiian Electric Co).• Integrator (2 yrs): integration, testing and configuration control across projects (mainly Chinese projects).• Developer/Designer (4 yrs): design, code, test of power utility applications (Hydro-Quebec and Caracas).
