Field work included: 1) collecting microhabitat data (depth, velocity, substrate and cover) for chinook salmon spawning and juvenile rearing; 2) investigating, using snorkel survey techniques, what factors, including mesohabitat type and cover, affected juvenile chinook salmon habitat densities; and 3) collecting hydrologic and structural data on sites for input to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Physical Habitat Simulation (PHABSIM) and 2-dimensional hydraulic and habitat simulation models. Used spreadsheet, database and statistical software, in addition to the PHABSIM and 2-dimensional simulation models, to develop habitat suitability criteria from the microhabitat observation data and to determine relationships between streamflow and anadromous salmonid spawning and juvenile rearing. -
