Started off working for Holden and Brooke who were brought out by a consulting company who also acquired Pullen Pumps. Then Armstrong brought both. I had to service and maintain any of the 3 companies existing products, plus promote the new equipment.My duties included:Commission Pressurisation units, IVS pumps, Cold water Booster sets (Variable and fixed speed)Carry out full mechanical breakdown of customers pumps asses condition and rebuild with new parts required. Providing the customer with a report on works carried out and future works that would be recommended.Attend site and carry out fault finding as reported by customers with a view to rectify.Carry out site surveys for future works so accurate risk assessments and method statements could be produced.Installation of new equipment - pumps, pressurisation units, Booster sets.This position enabled me to see loads of different sites and work all over the country. From working at Wembley Stadium to the Control Tower at T5. Then the next week i could be at an internet switching station in Amsterdam. No 2 days were the same. I enjoyed the job and got a lot of job satisfaction either working as part of a team with my colleagues or working on my own.

Started off as one of the winding team. Rewinding single and three phase stators from any manufacturer of reciprocating a/c compressor. Then i was promoted to final test and inspection. Running the machines up carrying out all the function tests on them ready for painting. Then i would have to inspect them and sign them off for the customer or stock.

Started off as an apprentice winder fitter. My tasks would involve:Dealing with customers at the trade counter and booking jobs in. Taking motors / gearboxes / pumps apart to quote for repair.Cleaning up of parts either in the chemical tank or shot blaster.Winding off coils for other engineers.Replacing bearings / mechanical or oil seals.General admin / producing quotes or reports for customers.
