About Mark Gasper
Mark Gasper has a stellar track record of successful project delivery in both utility and DG scale renewable energy (wind & solar PV), large-scale commercial/industrial construction and real estate development for over 25 years. Since 2007, Mark has focused his efforts on renewables and in addition to establishing his consulting firm, he has held senior leadership roles at several groundbreaking organizations, both supporting development and constructing (EPC) hundreds of projects throughout the US ranging from 50kW to 500MW+.Under his former direction and leadership, IKEA’s renewable energy program was developed into one of the top 10 on-site commercial rooftop portfolios in the US, which notably includes the installation of photovoltaic systems atop 90% of their buildings. In addition, he oversaw the construction of their first two US wind farms (250+MW), integrated geothermal heating/cooling systems into US stores and reduced overall energy usage by 25%.As a key member of the IKEA real estate/construction team, he was responsible for leading pre-construction/design development, but also successfully managed the construction of over 2.5 million SF of stores and distribution centers nationwide, consistently maintaining budget, schedule and quality constraints. Before joining IKEA in 2004, Mr. Gasper held management positions with multiple ENR Top 400 CM/GC construction firms, managing numerous C&I projects for prominent clients such as KOHL'S, Pactiv, P&G, Liberty Property Trust (now Prologis) and the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout his career, he has personally managed hundreds of construction projects of varying size and complexity totaling over $5 billion USD. Mark has extensive experience in all aspects of construction management, engineering and commercial real estate development with a deep understanding of construction law and contract negotiation. He has been a frequent speaker on topics relating to wide-scale solar PV deployment, previously served as the Vice-Chairperson of RILA’s Energy and GHG Committee, and is an active member of several professional organizations.
