Teaching Assistant
CurrentI have been working as a TA, predominantly in year 1 and 2, (but also in Reception), since 03 Jan 2019.Most of my time is spent with pupils who exhibit challenging behaviour, in a regular state primary school. Some of whom are diagnosed as having Special Educational Needs/ex Trauma/Attachment issues. Some are, as yet, to be diagnosed.I often do interventions with certain pupils, to support the class teacher, and facilitate the smooth running of the class. This last term I have been largely with one pupil, in a class context, to support and encourage his resilience and self-regulation, with the objective that the pupil can work independently in the future. When I'm not working as a significant adult, I spend time supporting some of the lower functioning pupils, who are struggling academically. I also have the role of lunch time supervisor, where I help pupils to navigate the social and physical aspects of their school life.I have a passion for working in the Primary school environment, where I feel I can make a real difference to pupils' lives, and as a man, aim to be a positive role-model for them, (particularly the boys).
