This included delivering the school improvement and teacher workforce offer, free schools programme, academies programme and programmes specific to the region such as ‘Opportunity North East’, including line managing a team of six and acting as the escalation point for complex or high-risk cases. I developed and maintained strategic relationships with key stakeholders in the education sector, including multi-academy trusts (MATs), Dioceses, local authorities and maintained schools, as well as other Government departments and regulatory bodies, such as Public Health England (PHE) and the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted).As an area lead, I worked strategically to ensure delivery of these programmes is cohesive and collaborative and will achieve the ambitions set in the Government’s Schools White Paper.Achievements:• Led the work on Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) in the region, delivering sessions including “Barriers to Bullying & Harassment”, where an anonymised safe space was used to gather feedback to support wider improvements to departmental reporting and actioning B&H concerns.• Dealt with a post-pandemic decline in school performance in LA maintained schools in Sheffield, resulting in an increase in Ofsted rated inadequate schools, by issuing directive Academy Orders and mandating conversion to a strong academy trust to cement school improvement. Working nationally in food policy, I led on the implementation of 'Natasha's Law' in October 2021, seeing changes to allergen labelling, in particular, 'pre-packed for direct sale' food, liaising and engaging with charities, businesses and other Government departments. I also supported other key areas including 'precautionary allergen labelling' and worked with colleagues in our incident team to provide responses to urgent allergy incidents in a timely and prompt way, providing clear recommendations to FSA colleagues on how the matter should be handled, in line with food hypersensitivity policy and legislation. In addition to incident response, I also drafted clear and engaging documents and correspondence aimed at different audiences, for example, briefing documents for officials, Ministers and correspondence responses to members of the public.Achievements:• Presented at a series of webinars across a variety of audiences in the food industry, to support awareness and preparations for the implementation of Natasha’s Law. • Written published guidance and made policy decisions to support business interpret the new legislation, in order to support business preparedness and knowledge. Working nationally in operational delivery, I led on two workstreams exploring 'Shared Accountability' between the regulator and industry and 'Robust Assurance', developing regulatory practices to provide the greatest assurance for industry, the regulator and ultimately consumers. Working as a project coordinator for the workstreams, I oversaw and led on numerous initiatives within the workstreams, coordinating their project delivery, governance, and implementation. The collective workstreams and initiatives within them supported the continual development of the Future Delivery Model (FDM), which will drive operational change in how the Food Standards Agency delivers Official Controls.My main duties were project management / coordination, stakeholder engagement and operational delivery, I ensured that the projects were managed according to timescales and that key milestones were met. I briefed senior managers for the various project boards, including the 'Operational Transformation Programme Board' (OTPB) and 'Operational Transformation Steering Group' (OTSG), whilst also updating on current progress adding additional insight where needed.With support from the Field Management Division, I worked closely with technical and operational colleagues in the field, taking the lead in driving the Food Standards Agency’s vision and bringing about positive transformational change.Achievements:• Led and delivered an ‘Emergency Easement’ due to the impact of Covid-19 on field operational resource, to support the delivery of Official Controls with a severely reduced workforce.
