The CAD Guys were contracted to SEM Fire & Rescue to apply specialised skills in an effort to deliver essentially two prototype vehicles to the Melbourne Fire Brigade (MFB). My role as the lead CAD Guy included specification development, verification, and validation along with management of the mass models and ensuring compliance against AS. My role as the lead CAD Guy included specification development, verification, and validation along with management of the mass models and ensuring compliance against AS. As lead engineer it was my responsibility to take the customer supplied GA drawings, develop all necessary 3D concept models using Solidworks, evaluate concept feasibility, and conduct design reviews with major stake holders to ensure compliance with customer requirements. In addition, I was also responsible for delivery and maintenance of the design data pack.Being a prototype vehicle a large percentage of the vehicles were built “on the job” something the CAD Guys are very experienced in. Once the major build areas were completed using 3D CAD I was responsible for managing the build. This included scheduling, daily planning, build meetings and working with the build team to develop designs that were not detailed previously. The partnership between the CAD Guys and SEM fire & rescue has been extremely successful with the delivery two vehicles of the highest standard to the MFB. Show less

This role included developing & defining systems/subsystems such as the entire dash assembly.In addition, l was responsible for, developing ICD documents, formulating masses and costing budgets, co-ordination of timing in accordance with the program schedule, coordination and distribution of work to draftsmen, management of suppliers and procurement, 3D design and 2D drawing development using Pro Engineer and validation of systems.
