I’ve been fascinated during my past decade in leadership roles, as CEO or Chair of charities, by a rich diversity of leadership experiences. I started the Open University MBA in November 2021 to become a more effective leader. I am developing my CEO business skills through a strong underpinning in applied management theory. The Open University MBA benefits from a cross-sector approach (private, public and not-for-profit sectors) to organisational strategy, culture, ethics, marketing, finance and change.I believe that leadership is about listening, learning…and transforming what you know into a fresh vision to inspire others to reach higher than they previously thought they could. It’s about growing hope, confidence and trust through every action you take.As CEO of a charity, I’ve tripled the number of beneficiaries, more than doubled income, successfully diversified income and developed numerous service and operational innovations. However, what’s been most memorable and meaningful is the individual journeys of people courageously facing their fears and blossoming into leaders of their own lives. I’m passionate about the unique value of the charity sector to be a creative leader with communities too – finding new ways to tackle long-standing challenges and helping people find the hope and confidence to reach their full potential in life. I love how charities are uniquely positioned to act as catalysts for change with communities, empowering people’s unheard voices to be heard.
