With over 18 years experience as an Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy contractor and consultant in the US, I have experience on the front lines of the new green economy. Since 2001, I have founded two green businesses in New Mexico, one in green construction and the other in solar technology and energy efficiency. As well, in 2009, I completed an MSc in Carbon Management from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, completing a dissertation entitled "Engaging the Building Sector in Climate Change Action" Which focused on the potential of carbon markets to promote energy conservation. The master's degree adds to my previous academic qualification of BS in Environmental Science from the University of New Hampshire, 1994.In late 2010, I completed a year long consultancy for the United Nations, UN-HABITAT division, producing three major outputs including a global scoping study on low cost sustainable housing as a climate change mitigation and adaptation strategy in developing nations. Ultimately the consultancy produced an agency-wide Policy Paper and the design of a 6 year program for the agency to enact sustainable housing work globally.Currently, I continue my work as President of Palo Santo Designs LLC designing and constructing LEED certified homes and green buildings.I serve on the Board of Directors of the Santa Fe Area Home Builders' Association (SFAHBA)and the New Mexico Chapter of the US Green Building Council (USGBC). I also sit as a Trustee to the Green Building Council of SFAHBA and the Western Regional Committee of the USGBC.
