Trained 150 key accident safety investigators. - Identifying and reviewing environmental commercial impacts of a multi-million dollar chemical complex (Enron Teeside Operations Ltd) which allowed a group of syndicating banks to accept the environmental risks associated with the purchase of the site. - Leading safety and environmental audits of manufacturing companies in the Netherlands, France and the UK including manufacturers of automotive trim & gearbox parts (Textron) and household cleaning products (SC Johnson). - Managing Safety input to an Environmental, Health and Safety gap analysis of a Middle Eastern Chemical company (Kuwait Petroleum Industries Company) EHS Management System. Gap analysis was based on ISO 14001 and BS8800 (now OHSAS 18001). - Presenting to the board members and CEO issues concerning safety for a South African Mining Corporation (Ingwe – part of the Billiton Group). The work included carrying out an “Unwritten Rules” assessment of the safety culture of the organization. - Managing project work and presenting findings to the Group board of a FTSE 100 company (British American Tobacco) on how eight of their overseas operations were developing their corporate responsibility programmes.

At Shell I advised the Shell Group on air emissions, contaminated land and health and safety: - A one year secondment to Shell UK which focused on providing safety and environmental support to Shell UK Bitumen, Marine and Aviation. Work included investigating a serious safety incident at Manchester airport - A three year assignment working with world leading scientists in risk based approaches to assessing and managing contaminated land. Work included leading workshops for regulators and specialists in both the UK and South Africa - A one year assignment to Shell International’s Research/Technical Service group working in advance techniques to measure air emissions. Work included taking air emission measurements in an oil refinery, a gas plant and a chemicals complex
