For my second year as part of the J1 work and exchange programme, I worked in Rays Rentals beach rental shop. I spent three months living and working in Pacific Beach, renting out all types of beach equipment to an array of different customers. Products included, surf boards, wetsuits, skate boards, bikes etc.My duties included:• Renting beach equipment (surf boards, umbrellas, skateboards, wetsuits etc.) to different customers everyday.• Greeting customers as they entered and immediately engaging them to see if I could help.• Cleaning and maintaining the shop on a daily basis, including cleaning sand from surfboards and wetsuits.• Counting stock and ordering more if necessary.

For my first summer on the J1 work and exchange programme I worked in a British run fish and chip restaurant. • Took responsibility preparing a range of fish dishes for customers.• Greeted customers as they approached and put their order through the cash register.• Waited tables and ensured each one had condiments, napkins etc.• Cleaned and sanitised the food truck daily after every service, including all cooking instruments.• Took responsibility for chatting with customers and asking for their feedback
