Established in 2011, C-R-L grew rapidly from a small start-up business to become one of the largest providers of 10-year Structural Defects Insurance policies to the residential construction industry throughout the UK, Ireland and Spain. With a vast range of clients, C-R-L prided itself on offering bespoke solutions for all residential properties with a fast turnaround and a high level of customer service. As BDD, I was responsible for a broad range of business improvement and change initiatives, strategic and operational marketing and customer relationship activities that delivered operational improvements and continued organisational growth.

Initially as Head of Consulting, then interim Head of Business Development and Consulting for the Law Society, I worked as one of several directors within the Commercial Affairs directorate. I was responsible for a substantial P&L and for reaching quarterly sales figures for six business units: Commercial Partnerships, Sponsorships, Tele-Sales, Product Marketing, Field Sales and Law Society Consulting.Law Society Consulting was a new venture that provided expert guidance and support to law firms and in-house legal teams. Its solutions helped clients address their challenges and opportunities concerning risk, regulatory compliance, finance, strategy and business development.

Responsible for organising, managing and motivatating business development and sales resources targeted at improving relationships and the level of business won from NHBC’s SME Customers across the UK.

Responsible for developing, delivering and managing a number of new products & services for NHBC, assisting the construction industry meet the requirements of changing regulation and legislation - whilst ensuring income and profitability targets for these business areas were achieved.

Initially managing complex and large loss claims, then responsible for a wide range of project and research work including in-depth analysis and interpretation of claims data using analytical software to improve business insight. This involved producing forecasts, business modelling, identifying trends and launching business improvement initiatives to improve efficiencies.

Responsible for the successful delivery of the companies objectives - A one year project post merger to accurately and efficiently integrate two major corporations underwriting systems with a premium income exceeding £1.2bn.

Head of Finance for Regional office of CGUI (Aviva) - Managing a new team of finance and operational support staff with a branch turnover of £28m. Also responsible for all aspects of facilities management. HR matters and payroll - circa 200 staff.

Working for General Accident/ CGU in a variety of roles, including Personal Lines underwriting, key account management, claims management and business development.

Responsible for law enforcement and the maintenance of good order and military discipline.
