About Mark Grimmer

Hi! I'm Mark, the Co-Founder of 59 Studio, a multi-disciplinary design and production company based in London and New York. We describe what we do as 'story-driven design' - we strive to find new ways to use design and storytelling to create memorable experiences for audiences around the world.My particular interests lie in developing narrative concepts, writing, and directing projects in a broad range of mediums. I was the creative director of the V&A's 'David Bowie is' exhibition which toured to eleven cities around the world, I've written or directed our team’s work on projects for the National Theatre, The Metropolitan Opera New York, The Anna Wintour Costume Institute (Met Ball), the Bob Dylan Centre, the United Nations, and the BBC amongst many others. I was the writer and director of the immersive experience, Bigger & Closer (Not Smaller & Further Away) - a collaboration with David Hockney which was the inaugural show at Lightroom, a new joint venture between 59 and London Theatre Company. Alongside my work at 59 I also write for TV and film, and have developed and written projects for Netflix, Channel 4, Comedy Central, Sony Pictures Television and Fox.
