While at AssureCare, I continued to develop my experience in integrated enterprise Case, Disease, and Utilization Management systems and broaden my knowledge and experience in the marketplace. This included:Full healthcare system UI revamp and modernization. As part of a team including a UX specialist and UI developers, we redefined the user interface of the company's signature product. Utilizing the capabilities that technologies such as HTML5, Bootstrap, Material and others offer, I served as the team's SME on the product and market, composing documentation that guided the development and QA efforts leading to the launch of a forward-looking, responsive client.Medication Therapy Management. I joined in the effort to learn about and respond to this growing area of the healthcare market. I worked to meld the vision of users, SMEs, and UX with implementation realities and data source constraints to build toward a set of functionality geared to address different aspects of MTM.

Over the course of more than two decades with CH Mack, I was deeply involved with the conception, design, development, and implementation of more than three generations of Healthcare IT products and services. This involved designing functionality for general enterprise-level features such as user account creation, management, and security; aspects of UI such as navigation, workflow organization; secure communications and output; and overall application administration, as well as features specific to the healthcare markets. These include:Utilization Management (UM) functionality. Service authorizations, requests for service, approval/denial/appeal workflow and correspondence, task generation and management with queues and triggered business rules, and provider management including contracting, costs and reimbursement rates.Program/Case/Care/Disease Management. Patient/Member demographics, eligibility determination, and program enrollment and disenrollment. Assessments (using standards such as the InterRAI-HC and its scales, caps, and RUGs, and custom-developed tools) and health risk assessments with scoring. Care plans and service plans, case notes, and contact and correspondence management including literature and support materials.EDI Support. Interface implementation for data exchange with external claims systems and other sources and targets for data, using custom transaction formats as well as HIPAA X12 standards such as the 278, 834, 835, and 837-P/I.Portals. UI and feature design for provider portal access to validate member eligibility, request authorizations and extensions for services, and interact with customer service or other appropriate users, and member portal access for program and eligibility status, a document library with correspondence history, and customer service access.

I served as the on-staff analyst and developer for the mainframe-based patient care system in use at the inpatient facilities of the Franciscan Health System of Cincinnati, the operator of two large Cincinnati-area hospitals and a third institution specializing in metal health, along with additional outpatient care centers and senior residence facilities (now a part of Mercy Health Partners). I worked with administration, nurses, physicians, and staff to enhance all aspects of this application, from routine hospital processes to specialized functions such as pharmacy and laboratory operations. I also developed and enhanced applications for the Social Services department and Meals-on-Wheels programs operated by the Health System.

I provided phone and on-site installation and ongoing technical support for the terminal emulation and file transfer software that ICS resold. I developed installation scripts and additional written documentation that was included in with the software as an aide for users. ICS was a small business that fluctuated between 3-20 staff during its time, providing me the opportunity to also step in and handle many aspects of operation such as shipping, receiving, inventory management, and billing.
