I served my gardening apprenticeship and was a Gardener for over 18 years with WDC. I have a vast mix of skills and experience, working in Green Flag award winning parks such as Levengrove and Dalmuir. I have experienced working in different environments such as mechanics workshops, golf course and sports areas, as well as various greenspace squads (including tree works in the winter months) The main tasks of these were maintaining the grassed and decorative areas within Clydebank and West Dunbartonshire. I have chargehand leadership experience and have followed up my skills by completion of APSE team leadership and CMI level 3 management courses. I have also completed a Ministry of Defence leadership course alongside a coaching and mentoring scheme out-with normal working hours as part of my continued development. I hold my Network Rail PTS, OLEC 1 and IWA certificates and have worked in the Railway industry, isolating and safeguarding worksites as part of C&G’s safety critical team.I worked in Argyll & Bute’s Roads and Amenities team as an Assistant Team leader of Operations. My key role in this post was to assist in the delivery of waste, grass cutting/amenities and road maintenance to the Lomond area. I have worked for 3.5yrs as an Unpaid Work Supervisor and Justice officer for Stirling Council’s Criminal Justice Department. During this time I have attended first aid, ladder and drug overdose awareness courses. I am now working as a bank lecturer in Learner Development for West College Scotland teaching SCQF4 in horticulture, T2C employability and delivering practical skills workshops
