I studied Information Technology at college for 2 years, this involved building and using computer systems and computer programming. I then joined the British Army where I trained and worked as an Avionics Technician for 5 years, building up a strong knowledge of electronics and mechanical systems. I moved on to work as an electrician on the BP Clair Platform for 3 years, this allowed me to build a thorough knowledge of industrial electrics to complement the instrument-based knowledge I gained in the army.this has gave me a good all round knowledge of rig systems; this combined with my electronics background allows me a deeper understanding of the way they work for more efficient faultfinding.I moved in to a Commissioning role on a new build in Germany, where it had the opportunity to learn the Norsok regulations and ensure that the Electrical side of the rig confirms to them. This was a enjoyable and rewarding challenge.As the Commissioning came to an end I move to a position as a Systems Engineer on a rig in the Caspian Sea in 2011. Gaining a lot of experience in PLC programming, I have completed several Courses in PLC maintenance and programming with both ABB and SIEMENS. The skills learnt on these courses has boosted my ability to fault find on the rig systems, allowing me to monitor values within the PLC and force values to check systems safely.I the past year my task has also included the mentoring and training of local assistant systems engineers, this has added a new element to the task. I now need to explain with detail why and how tasks are preformed and allow the trainees to complete the tasks while supervising to ensure it is done safely and correct, answering any questions they may have to better their understanding.I am a highly adaptable and quick learning individual, I am eager to learn new skills and take on new tasks
