The team… Show more I am currently responsible for all aspects of financial reporting, including: ¨ preparation of the consolidated and subsidiaries’ financial statements;¨ management of the external audit relationship to ensure the Group’s objectives are met;¨ appraising senior finance personnel of developments in financial reporting, including assessing the impact of IFRS implementation. My other main duties involve: ¨ heading a shared services finance department of 14. The team undertakes accounting for shared functions (eg IT and logistics), property, capital and treasury, as well as the Group’s franchise and internet businesses; ¨ part of the management team that oversees the daily operation of the Leeds-based accounting centre (160 staff);¨ being a trustee of the Group’s principal pension schemes which, in aggregate, have 40,000 active, deferred and pensioner members;¨ sitting on the investment committees of the above schemes (assets £1,200 million); and¨ as the Group’s acknowledged technical expert, being routinely consulted for advice on such matters as supplier/contractor covenant assessments and restructuring opportunities. Prior to the Group being taken private, I was also responsible for its: ¨ preliminary and interim announcements;¨ press releases; and¨ co-ordinating the publication of the ‘Glossy’ and Summary Financial Statements.
