I started my career in the medical field in 2010 after being Furloughed from a position in the graphics art field. I had been a graphic designer for 23 years which started when I joined the Air Force. When I originally enlisted in the military I was placed me in the medical field as a dental Technician. I did not enjoy that field of work at that time and requested placement in another field. That request started my career in the graphics art field. In 2010 when I was Furloughed I decided I needed a career that was not impacted by the economy and that would always be in need. I never dreamed I would end up back in the medical field after all of those years. I am currently employed by the Neurology Center of Excellence in Martinsburg, WV. I am the Practice Manager and a Registered Medical Assistant. I am employed under the direction of Dr. Edaurdo Zamora, Board Certified Neurologist and Director of Operations for the practice. My position consist of managing every aspect of the practice from scheduling patients and obtaining prior authorizations by working with the patient's Insurance company(ies) and staying up to date with ICD codes. I refill medications, submit orders documented in the patient's chart. I pay all of the bills for the practice. I am in charge of hiring employees and keeping the medical staff up to date with their education and certifcations. I cooridinating repairs in the building by scheduling the proper contractors and supervising the work. I address any and all patient disputes by coming to a resolution that will keep the patient happy but is mutually good for the patient and the practice. I have experience in family medicine and cardiology. I spent a couple of years in nursing homes and private in home healthcare and now Neurology. I love caring for patients. I also pride myself on my ethics and morals. I was given a citation merit award from the Govenor of the state of Virginia in 2018. I exposed a company that was being unethical and imorral toward patients when they were hired to provide home care. That company is no longer in business and I was thanked by the Govenor for performing my due diligence in exposing the compnay. I enjoy what I do now and enjoy working with Dr. Zamora. He is one of the most knowlageble, caring and compassionate physicians I have had the honor of working with. Not only does he care tremendously for his patients but treats his staff as if they were his own family.
