Mark works alongside a deep and experienced team of investigations lawyers and litigators, experts in industries and practice areas that intersect with work state attorneys general do, and one of the nation’s most respected public law and policy practices.Mark served as Virginia Attorney General from 2014-2022, and in the Virginia Senate from 2006-2014. As Attorney General, he and his team led large-scale investigations across various market sectors—including technology, financial services, consumer retail, and life sciences. He has been a critical member of many nationally prominent multi-state investigations, and was a key contributor to Virginia’s nationally recognized privacy legislation. Mark worked closely with state AGs across the country on both sides of the aisle, played a prominent role in national attorney general organizations, and is considered a national leader among the state attorneys general bar.

During his tenure, he has worked to bring technology-based economic development to the Northern Virginia region, secured transportation funding for needed overpasses and other local road projects, and has been a leader in making both state and local governments more accountable to the citizens of Virginia.To protect our kids, he led the effort to crack down on new threats to their safety, working closely with law enforcement and prosecutors to keep dangerous new synthetic drugs off the shelves.
