I am currently Business & Performance Manager at BAE Systems Maritime Services, based at Her Majesty’s Naval Base Portsmouth, where I’m proud to support the Royal Navy through our Ship Repair business.I graduated with a BSc Degree in Manufacturing Systems Engineering gaining Chartered Engineer status and membership of the IET. Engineering has always been a cornerstone for me although I have had the opportunity to work in many different areas of business which has enabled me to gain a wide range of general management skills and experience. Following my early roles in engineering and operations I returned to academia to study accounting and then spent ten years in various management and financial accounting roles. I’ve also successfully managed to broaden my general management capabilities by undertaking lead roles in strategic planning, business development, supply chain management and resourcing which has been incredibly important to me in terms of understanding how the various facets of business fit together.My background is in Aerospace and Defence where I’ve worked in Air (both fixed and rotary wing), Land and Sea. I’ve worked in a number of different locations around the UK as well as abroad in both the Middle East and Europe. The opportunity to experience a wide diversity of cultures and working practices has been incredibly beneficial to me in terms of my own perspectives and my overall approach to business management.
