Learning agile, I have served in Patrol Boats, Mine Hunters, Frigates and a Landing Platform Helicopter Carrier, conducting nationally and internationally sensitive maritime security, counter narcotic and humanitarian aid operations globally. I have extensive experience relationship building, working routinely with foreign navies such as the US Navy, US Coast Guard, French and Omani Navies as well as government organizations, including the National Crime Agency (NCA), Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) and Department for International Development (DFID).Routinely leading multi-disciplinary teams, I have been selected for sea command on multiple occasions, commanding 6 warships and the Faslane Patrol Boat Squadron (FPBS). Overcame significant risk through dynamic management in the face of poor weather and low team capacity, to build the Crew to work more effectively as a collective and individually in readiness for deployed operations. In Jan 2019, deployed to the Arabian Gulf in support of the UK Maritime Component Commander and US Fifth Fleet, to deliver maritime security operations during a period of heightened tensions with Iran. Worked extensively with regional partners, delivering maritime training, interoperability, and force integration. Balanced personnel and equipment risk, to ensure ship capability whilst balancing sustainability. Delivered UK Defense Engagement and partnership building. On returning to the UK, Crew 1 joined HMS CHIDDINGFOLD immediately prior to an extensive maintenance and upgrade package. Project Managed budget and delivery, under significant time and resource constraints, overcoming the challenges of C-19 and a national lock down, by successfully working with industry partners, including BAE and QINETIQ, adapting working practices and processes, ensuring safety of personnel and contractors whilst achieving project tasks. Navigating Officer - Hms Ocean
Selected as a leading Specialist Navigator, to navigate HMS OCEAN, the Royal Navy’s Fleet Flagship from 2016-2018. Responsible for the management, direction, and execution of the J3 daily operations, including navigation, aviation and wider tasking for the Ship and 1200+ Ship’s Company. Assumed Bridge Conduct for operations on behalf of the Captain at sea.Worked within the Command Team to plan and manage the Ship’s program, including integration of aviation assets from external organizations, including the British Army (Apache), Royal Air Force (Chinook) and Royal Navy squadrons. Operated with US Navy and Marine Corps assets including MV-22. From 2016-2017, Navigated OCEAN through a 6 month operational tour to the Arabian Gulf, including embarkation of CTF50 Battlestaff. This was the first time a British Battlestaff had command the US Navy CTF50 group. Delivered coalition partnership building and training, alongside Maritime Security Operations in support of US 5th Fleet. Hosted key international engagement, including visits by the UK Prime Minister and high-level diplomats. Deployed in 2017 for a further tour, in support of Standing NATO Maritime Group 2, as the Command platform. However, re-tasked in response to Hurricane Maria to deploy from the Mediterranean to the Caribbean to deliver Humanitarian Disaster Relief Operations where I was a key part of the Command Planning Group, working with external organizations including the FCO and DFID. As Navigator, executed combined aviation and landing craft operations on behalf of the Captain, to deliver aid and personnel ashore. On returning to the UK, prepared OCEAN for sale to the Brazilian Navy, including training nominated Brazilian officer in bridge operations before decommissioning the Ship from the Royal Navy. Had the honor to act as the Officer of the Royal Guard for Her Majesty the Queen.

Qualifying as a Principle Warfare Officer, assumed the role of Head of the Warfare Department in HMS SOMERSET, leading a team of 75 officers and enlisted personnel. Responsible for the short to medium term program management for the ship, including delivery of daily operations planning and execution on behalf of the Captain. Liaised extensively with internal and external stakeholders, managing training delivery to increase operational capability. Extensive technical engagement, working with both mechanical and electronic engineers to deliver equipment trials and testing to prove the ship’s defensive and offensive capabilities, including integration of the newly installed 997 Medium Air Search Radar system. The Intermediate Command and Staff Course (Maritime) - or ICSC(M) - is designed to equip maritime officers and warrant officers with the staff skills, critical thinking and operational awareness to succeed in the primary and secondary stages of their careers. ICSC(M) is delivered by the Royal Navy Division and is an integral part of the Defence Academy’s Joint Services Command and Staff College (JSCSC).As modern warfare is continually evolving, so is ICSC(M) with an enhanced focus on disruptive and innovative thinking, multi-domain operation, contemporary security issues and specific business skills.ICSC(M) is a full-time 10-week course that implements hybrid learning, with a mixture of residential, remote and digital learning.
