I serve as the Chief Security Officer. This role entails several responsibilities including but not limited to functioning as the facility Key Control Officer, Tool Control Officer, Security Threat Group Coordinator, and the liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. I am also responsible for completing investigations that are typically monitored by Internal Affairs for alleged employee work rule violations. I ensure the security systems at the facility are functional and working appropriately. If there are issues with these systems, I coordinate with the maintenance department to ensure they are repaired in a timely fashion. I also maintain intelligence databases regarding illicit prisoner activity and coordinate with the Michigan State Police if that activity becomes criminal.

I was responsible for managing a housing unit of an adult prison that housed youthful and Holmes Youthful Trainee Act (HYTA) prisoners. I was responsible for managing the budget of the housing unit as well as ordering supplies. I helped manage the caseload of 190 prisoners which included reports due for the courts as well as the parole board. I also completed all of the intake paperwork for incoming HYTA prisoners since our facility functioned as the reception center for all incoming HYTAs. I performed self-audits of our facility annually. I held minor court hearings as well as administrative hearings. I facilitated programming to the offender population such as Phase 1 Substance Abuse and Thinking for a Change. I also served as the Security Threat Group Coordinator for the facility.

I was responsible for supervising corrections officers in a prison housing unit. I also acted as a case manager for 120 youthful offenders inside the housing unit. I was also responsible for managing the budget for the housing unit given to me by the business manager.
