At commencement, as an Internal IT auditor, a colleague and I were assigned the operational audit of HRSB. HRSB, developed, maintained and operated the $3.3B p.a. 'all off government' payroll and HR systems. We discovered a myriad of significant problems – and I was asked to fix them by the then Minister.I implemented the 26 recommendations of the audit and fulfilled the Ministers wish to relieve the department of the payroll operation after successfully undergoing a due diligence by CITEC.During the same time, I was promoted to the role of Manager Business Strategy, Information Technology Branch, I was responsible for the management of the research and development team who had the prime responsibility of developing an I.T. architecture for DEVETIR. This involved a considerable amount of Business Process Re-Engineering, workshops and cross sectional analysis of the organisation. I also undertook reviews of the WH&S Divisions Oracle systems as well as the TAFE Student Management systems.
