My wife and I bought Abbott's Frozen Custard of Greer because we love downtown Greer and saw the shop as a unique opportunity to be involved and serve our community in a new way. The shop opened in 2016, but by the time we acquired it in August 2019 was in dire need of new vision and leadership in order to thrive to its potential. It was a rewarding outlet for us to meet and get to know families in our area, be part of the continued renaissance of downtown Greer, and to provide employment opportunities for dozens of members of our community. Selling the shop in August 2024 was bitterweet, but we knew we knew the time was right to refocus our time and resources on our other business pursuits and our family. We were thrilled to sell the business to another family capable of taking the shop to the next level and keeping it a special place in downtown Greer for many years to come.I'm proud of many things we accomplished while owning Abbott's. During the 5 years we owned the shop, year-over-year sales revenue grew by 85% (even through the worst of COVID!), we donated thousands of dollars back to Greer's schools, nonprofits, and churches, we implemented a tuition reimbursement program for our team members which multiple young people took advantage of, and through the years we provided hundreds of cool, sweet treats free of charge to members of the Greer police and fire departments.Abbott's Frozen Custard of Greer was named "Best Ice Cream/Frozen Custard" in Greer by the readers of The Greer Citizen as part of the 2020 "Reader's Choice" awards, and was a 2020 nominee for The Greenville News "Best of the Upstate" awards.(Guardian and its subsidiaries do not endorse or have any direct or indirect responsibility with respect to this activity.)
