As a Human Resources Consultant at the Washington State Department of Licensing, I specialize in developing and delivering high-quality training for our 1,300 employees statewide. With a robust background in communications and video production, I transform complex concepts into engaging, understandable content that ensures effective learning and retention. My expertise spans the entire production process: from conducting interviews, scriptwriting, and narration to shooting, editing, and adding graphics and music. I perform the multifaceted roles of a production team, handling everything from photography and videography to lighting and audio. My work ensures that our training materials not only inform but also inspire and engage our staff.Over my 15 years at the Washington State Department of Licensing, I’ve had the privilege of consulting with various subject matter experts, producing impactful training and informational content. Notably, I created a four-part video series on the Washington State Drive Test, which highlights specific driving skills such as parallel parking. These videos, produced in 2010, have garnered millions of views on YouTube, assisting new drivers in Washington State and around the world. In 2019, I led the development of a critical diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training series. Initially tasked with photography, I redefined the project by incorporating interviews with experts and employees, utilizing Zoom for remote interviews before it became widely adopted. This multi-part series remains a cornerstone of our agency’s training, contributing to my recognition as Employee of the Year for the Director’s Office.Prior to my current role, I spent 20 years as an award-winning television reporter, recognized for my investigative reporting and storytelling skills. This diverse experience includes coverage of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks from Ground Zero, Shanksville, and the Pentagon, as well as nationally recognized reporting on the David Parker Ray “sex torture case.” My coverage of the Girly Chew Hossencofft case placed me at the forefront of innovation and technology, leading to the publication of my book “September Sacrifice.”
