Hartlepool Sixth Form College merged with Sunderland College in August 2017. The Sport & Physical Education department changed dramatically in the time that I managed the area. Through developing bespoke academic pathways linked to professional sports teams, the number of learners doubled with the department also growing from 4 x FTE to 9 x FTE. Not only was there national success on the sports field but in the classroom too with ALPS 1-2 across all main Level 3 programmes.
