UVANTA Pharmacy is an institutional pharmacy with over $10 million in 2015 revenue and 37 employees serving 1,500 residents in long-term care facilities and hospice organizations in the Kansas City region - Responsible for HR as a one-person department, finance, accounting, vendor relations, banking relationships, facilities, risk management and legal aspects of the Pharmacy.- Successfully overcame numerous challenges associated with high growth and volatile revenue while attracting, developing and retaining talent to deliver excellent customer service.- Spearheaded processes to finance and implement automated dispensing technology. Reduced labor cost, increased production and achieved increased profitability. Vice President & Corporate Treasurer (1998 - 2008)- Managed a $1 billion balance sheet of the privately owned investment advisor, American Century Companies, Inc. (ACC).- Performed review of ACC’s annual reports and was a primary interface with external auditors to substantiate accounting positions for complex transactions and financial reporting.- Partnered with HR and Legal to analyze the economic and accounting impact of stock-based compensation programs. The process led to changes in structure of incentive compensation and retention programs. With HR, authored related employee communications.- Maintained banking relationships, reporting and led the process to negotiate the Company’s first bank syndicate debt offering. - Served as key contact for independent valuation of privately held ACC stock. Enhanced monthly communications and transparency for stock price fluctuations to stakeholders.- Participated in valuations, due diligence and decision making for merger and acquisition activities.- Performed economic analysis and recommendations for capital asset acquisitions of real estate, aircraft, and IT infrastructure and the related financing.- Managed a six-year process to wind down and maximize recovery from a venture capital portfolio of 13 investee companies. Served as a board member on several investee companies and completed several profitable exits.Finance Consultant (1997 - 1998)- Developed pricing models for minimum profitability targets for new and existing clients in the Third Party and the Retirement Plan Services 401-k recordkeeping distribution channels. - Performed economic analysis of commission structures, funding and technical accounting research for ACC’s implementation and marketing of load mutual funds..Director of Internal Audit (1995 - 1997)- Managed a team of 14 financial, operational and IT auditors.- Led the effort to merge two internal audit departments and to support the combination of two mutual fund families.
