Since becoming a consultant my working life has become even more varied and challenging: I worked with MIE Medical Research Ltd as a Software Consultant, developing medical and psychological analysis software, resulting in 6 PC based systems which are used by UK and European Universities and Hospitals. Other projects include: the development of an office automation solution for a marine insurance company; the production of a business plan for a web-based resource tracking company; system analysis and automation strategy development for a Ukrainian crane sales company. In 2008 I was commissioned by Finance Southeast to review the growth potential of University spin-out companies and was also lead researcher on two ESRC funded projects one reviewing knowledge transfer between Universities and Industry and the other investigating the growth of Social Enterprises. I have worked as an advisor to: the former Department of Trade and Industry; The Design Council; the South East of England Development Agency; The Arts and Humanities Research Council; Lloyds Register; Business Link (Kent, Southeast, London and National) and the Australian Department of Innovation.
