“I have a passion for work place health and safety” especially for the construction industry. Being on major projects is challenging and it is very often rewarding to see the business objectives achieved and making a positive contribution to profitability while health and safety has been robustly implemented and managed.For me, knowing the construction industry well is very important in making valued judgements based on my experience of the process , and the business , giving advice to all sectors , and to look for ways of solving health and safety issues whilst keeping the job going. In this respect, the concept of ‘Reasonably Practicable ‘ is a very powerful tool that has helped me make some very wise decisions without the need to issue ‘Red Cards’ or ‘Stop Notices ‘at the first hint of a non –compliance. I have been in health and safety for more than 15 years, and my experience covers petro- chemical industry, commercial construction, mechanical engineering, rail industry and processing plant.A key ability of mine is being able to manage the health and safety of major construction projects which have ranged from 250 million to 600 million dollars.
