I'm Mark, and I'm Head of Technology at Comtec, a localisation company where I help a team of brilliant humans (and their clients) get the most from the latest tech advancements. I believe in striking a balance between human expertise and AI-based solutions so that we can create products and services to help our clients save money and time, all while delivering game-changing content in over 250 languages. Embracing technology and understanding how they can benefit our work is a key driver for me.During my time at Comtec, I've developed a specialism in translation technology, helping develop our solutions around Machine Translation and Generative AI. I'm a leading authority on all things tech and are usually working extensively testing new technologies in the Comtec lab. I am passionate about supporting them, becoming a trusted partner, or even an extension of their team. I truly value these relationships and how they can grow over time. I'm also passionate about all things AI, but don’t get me started on that as you probably won’t stop me… PERSONAL: I am often told that I have the most amazing memory, including the ability to remember the most useless of facts and typical Dad jokes. This also explains my encyclopaedia of knowledge on all things sport; one of my other passions. I am part of an award-winning team that has been recognised as the Project Management Team of the Year by the Association of Translation Companies: the leading professional membership association in our industry. The role is based on the coordination of translation projects from A-Z, including client relations, supplier relations, business and commercial skills in order to calculate profit margins and turnover and ensuring that each project runs smoothly until final delivery. Solten Group works predominately in the French and UK markets. For France, I am responsible for around 100 different customers from CAC40 customers to small and medium companies, each with different requirements. For the UK, I am also responsible for the commercial development of the company in order to try and win and maintain new and existing customers. This role has given me excellent communication and relational skills, and as a more senior member of the team it has given me management skills for being responsible for small teams of project coordinators -

InternshipObservatory On The Migration Of Minors (Omm) - Migrinter - Cnrs May 2014 - Sep 20145 month internship with the OMM attached to the research laboratory MIGRINTER, working on a post- doctoral research project studying the problems related to the Migration of unaccompanied children in Europe and also the USA, their migratory routes, social and administrative systems designed to protect them and how the enforce their basic fundamental rights under national and international legislation.Roles included; the identification and publication of all research and relevant information on this subject on the website of the Observatory, its eventual translation and communication and all other translation and linguistic revision required for the laboratory. It also involved personal exploratory research projects on the mobility of the EU's external borders, how European policy is linked to the protection and the enforcement of child's rights and the migratory paths of Unaccompanied Children. The objective of this role was to give greater visibility to this project at a European level and to show how migrant children are not able to access basic fundamental human rights (social care, education, housing) During this internship I was able to be part of publishing two academic articles, one published in the Ethnic and Racial studies review with a colleague and one written by myself published online regarding the impact of child migration in the United States and the treatment of these children concerning their fundamental rights.
