I am an experienced partner and IP lawyer at Foley, focused on providing relevant and comprehensive solutions to my clients in a broad spectrum of patent, trademark, copyright, and licensing matters. Aided by two advanced degrees in organic chemistry and bacteriology, I focus my patent practice on biotechnical and chemical arts, including nanotechnology, pharmaceutical, and diagnostic products. I also have wide-ranging experience in both organic and inorganic chemical areas involving adhesives, polymers, pharmaceuticals, and alloys. As a member of Foley’s nationally recognized IP Department (Chambers USA, 2014), I represent a broad range of clients, with special focus on advising and counseling start-up biotech companies in all aspects of IP protection. I enjoy collaborating with my Foley colleagues throughout the country and across 60 practices — including corporate transactions, private equity and venture capital, tax, and FDA/regulatory — to provide my start-up clients with the full spectrum of legal services they need to protect, manage, and grow their business assets.

  I have extensive experience in drafting agreements, including license, joint venture, consulting, and distribution agreements. I also prepare patent validity and non-infringement opinions as well as conduct patent portfolio analysis. In addition, I provide counseling on all aspects of domestic and international trademark practice, including trademark registration and trademark enforcement. I represent the worldwide trademark interests of numerous clients, and I act as primary copyright counsel for several businesses ranging from book publishers to software manufacturers.
