Defense Intelligence Agency - multiple tours augmenting the National Military Command Center in the Pentagon - qualified as the watch floor commander during around-the-clock operations. Operation ALLIED FORCE - lead an Intelligence Division responsible for providing air and ground order battle information to the aircrew of Electronic Attack Wing Aviano. The success of the Kosovo Campaign resulted in his unit being awarded the VADM Rufus L. Taylor Award as the most outstanding intelligence unit in the Navy. Operation ENDURING FREEDOM - multiple deployments to Afghanistan in support of, providing insight and intelligence support directly to the ISAF Commanders while serving in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. The 10th Congressional District of Illinois lies in the northeast corner of the state, and mostly comprises northern suburbs of Chicago. It was created after the 1860 census. During his time in the House, Kirk compiled a centrist voting record, tending to vote more liberally on social issues and more conservatively on foreign policy issues. Kirk was a member of the House Iran Working Group, the founder and co-chair of the House U.S.-China Working Group, the co-chair of the Congressional Caucus on Armenian Issues, the co-chair of the Albanian Issues Caucus in ex Yugoslavia, and chair of The Tuesday Group, a group of moderate Republicans in the U.S. House. During his House tenure, he was a member of the House Appropriations Committee.
