Working in partnership with his CEOs, he introduced contemporary strategic planning methods and processes to link strategy with business plans and compensation practices at RFE/RL, MITRE, Battelle Memorial Institute, and AK Steel. Mark has extensive corporate governance expertise. He is currently a member of the Board of Trustees of Associated Universities, Inc. (AUI), chairs its Operations and Administration Committee, and is board chair of AUI Labs, a special purpose subsidiary intended to house companies that spin-off from AUI. Prior to AUI, Mark was a Board-elected officer, member of the Executive Council, and executive advisor for the Boards and Audit Committees at MITRE, Battelle and AK Steel, and he served on the boards of seven Battelle spinout companies, two Department of Energy National Laboratories, and the advisory boards of two venture capital funds.
