I select and prioritize highway construction and maintenance work on 1,063 miles of State and Federal highways, throughout nine counties in northcentral Nebraska. I lead a staff of over 105 employees, who administer construction contracts and perform maintenance work on highways in the area. Together, we manage a $43 million dollar annual highway construction budget and a $18 million dollar operational budget to insure it maximizes the benefit to the traveling public. Over the years, I've developed a solid project selection/prioritization strategy, and preventative maintenance plan, that increased the highway miles in good condition from 76% to 97%.

I performed professional level engineering work and supervised administrative managerial work involving highway construction projects and activities. The projects involved highway infrastructure maintenance or reconstruction work on highways, bridges, buildings and facilities. I provided licensed professional engineering advice and guidance to assigned employees, other Department of Roads staff, and to other public agencies, to ensure projects were developed and built according to relevant laws, professional engineering standards, program regulations, agency policies, and specific project plans, and specifications. I supervised multiple Highway Project Managers and lower level professional Engineers in performance of their duties related to highway construction.
