A few words about my current organization:Closing the opportunity gap for students from poverty-impacted communities and for students of color should be - by far - our greatest national priority. If we don't see fundamental change in post-secondary achievement/completion rates for this growing group of students, our future - from a workforce, economic, and community perspective - is in real peril. Due to huge cultural and institutional barriers - racism primary among them - not of their choosing, these students are achieving post-secondary success at far lesser rates than higher income and white kids. Don't need to be a math whiz to understand that these systemic inequities don't add up - don't add up to a healthy economy, don't add up to a qualified workforce, and don't add up to a healthy, just, sustainable community. It will take entire communities to rally around student success - in every community in the U.S. - to make this happen. We're makin' it happen in Oregon - join us!A few words about me:- Have founded/re-founded three organizations over my 35-year career, all of which continue strong today.- Social entrepreneur who comes from a long line of small business entrepreneurs.- Passionate about and fluent in racial equity/DEI work.- Executive leader in two major universities.- Raised/leveraged over $60M in cash donations/investments.- Served on over 15 Boards and Advisory Committees, including Board Chair, Committee Chair, and Governor-appointed roles. - Deeply steeped in leadership concepts and approaches, via Master’s in Leadership and prestigious Kellogg Foundation National Fellowship/Leadership Program early in my career - Master’s thesis foreshadowed deepening and broadening of corporate social responsibility concepts and actions that are bearing out robustly today.
