I started writing seriously when I enrolled as a Journalism student at Cape Cod Community College, where I happily wrote for the college Newspaper, “The Main Sheet.” I delighted in writing on a wide variety of subjects using AP style and using true but engaging information to keep the students and faculty in the know. Collaboration with my fellow reporters, conducting interviews, meeting deadlines, answering to an editor while also working independently, were extremely valuable and transferable skills to all future writing assignments I would take on. I applied my journalistic skills to the fitness industry when I became part owner in a gym on Cape Cod for 10 years. I wrote the daily blog for membership, wrote copy for ad campaigns, and social media. I coordinated the content creation for the YouTube, facebook and Instagram seeing some content get 250k+ views! I was responsible for email communication with all membership and staff as well.Another responsibility was coordinating special events, competitions and fundraisers. These events would typically draw hundreds of people, dozens of volunteers and involve massive amounts of communication through email, social media, and the event pages that I would build specifically for the event. This involved programs like Mailchimp, to send out promotional information and other content related to all of the participants, spectators, volunteers and vendors.
