I trained contracted agencies on how to develop grant applications, both the financial and narrative portions of the applications. I reviewed the applications, approved and finalized them, and then monitored them for compliance throughout the grant period. I provided technical advice by traveling to various agencies throughout the State of Ohio and was considered a very good trainer, particularly of small groups of people. Also, at this time, I was heavily involved in a project where we were training the grant recipients to develop a quality care program that would improve the quality of the services they provided to their clients. The clients that they were serving were outpatient and inpatient alcohol and drug addicts and the program we were implementing was a Management by Objective approach. The goal was to introduce and monitor behavioral changes in the clients over a specific period of time and to evaluate the techniques used to help the clients achieved the goals. It was an exciting project that I believe created a more effective way of measuring success and giving the therapists guidance on what direction to take with their clients.
