I am a Respiratory & Sleep Medicine Physician at Western Health. I work three days per week in this role.My achievements since commencing at Western Health include providing significant assistance to my Director with the opening of inpatient Respiratory services at Sunshine Hospital in 2015. Additionally, I led the development of processes around physician reporting of Respiratory Function Tests and administrative workflow for our new Sunshine Hospital laboratory.In 2016 I have developed an inter-disciplinary meeting with my Radiology colleagues (Drs Yesuratnam and Narayanan), that involves a monthly tutorial session for both Respiratory and Radiology advanced trainees. This includes a clinical component and a thoracic radiology component.I have been the Principal Investigator for one registrar research project and am currently acting as the PI for another, while also filling this supervisory role for a University of Melbourne medical student Scholarly Selective research project that will investigate the factors associated with readmission to our health service after admission with an exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

I am excited to take on the role of Medical Education Editor for the journal Respirology. This is the first time the journal has had this position and I can't wait to see how the role develops over time.

Western Clinical School

After initially commencing in this role on a casual basis, I applied for the role of Deputy Director of the Western Clinical School (Clinical Sub-Dean) in 2014.Our school manages approximately 150 medical students, all of whom are post-graduate students studying through The University of Melbourne.This role requires both hands-on teaching as well as programme evaluation and administration. I negotiate with clinicians to develop teaching and learning opportunities.I have become an active member of the medical education community within our host health service (Western Health), including moderating the Professorial Report meetings in the absence of our Professor of Medicine earlier in 2016.In March 2016 I presented a poster describing the community outreach work of our medical students at the ANZAHPE - OTTAWA 2016 Joint Conference in Perth, Australia.
