About Mark Lester
I am a qualified Electrician and competent Trainer and Assessor. I hold a Cert. IV Training and Assessment and Instrumentation. In addition I also hold an ACMA ticket and a contractors/nominees ticket.I have 27 years’ experience in the mining industry ranging over a number of areas.As an Electrical Training Officer with Rio Tinto I was responsible for developing and implementing various electrical training packages. Training, assessment, skills gap analysis and compliance management of the maintenance teams being some of my primary tasks.The bulk of my experience has been specifically in the surface electrical maintenance field with high voltage switching being a large part of my responsibilities as a Treatment Plant Electrician. Other responsibilities included instrumentation, telecommunications installation and maintenance, management of small projects, electrical site upgrades and domestic type electrical work in the camp.In 2012/13 I received the Barrick Excellence Award (Safety Champion) for my achievements as a Work Place Safety Representative and the development of numerous safety procedures, job hazard analysis, field level risk assessments and safety incident investigations and reporting.
