Mark is Deputy Chief Executive Officer SG, Head of Legal Asia Pacific and a Member of the Executive Board APAC, LGT Private Banking. Mark provides risk management leadership as Deputy CEO SG and a director of LGT holding entities. Often cited as the ‘consummate in-house legal advisor’, he also oversees Legal affairs across the APAC franchise in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia, India, Japan, Thailand and UAE. He joined LGT in 2022. Prior to LGT, he was Citi's General Counsel for the Global International Personal Bank (SG, HK, UK & UAE), Wealth Management and Investments APAC/EMEA as well as the North Asia Cluster Consumer Banks (PRC, HK, TW & KR). Mark led a regional team that provided legal and regulatory support for all Citi Consumer businesses across 18 markets in APAC/EMEA, representing some of Citi's most strategic and sizeable interests outside the US then. He was with Citi for over 14 years.Having counselled Citi Private Bank, the global Citibank Non-Resident Indian Business (as its Global Counsel) and Citi Wealth Advisors Asia (formerly Citi Smith Barney retail brokerage), Mark has deep and extensive experience advising on a gamut of complex cross-border bank regulatory matters, including licensing, conduct of business, mergers and divestments, securities brokerage, bancassurance, digital banking, client transfers, introducing-broker activities, private wealth structuring/trusts/family office set-ups and other general offshore wealth management/private banking initiatives. He has also led significant investigations and crisis management teams on a variety of legal and regulatory issues.Prior to Citi, Mark was with US-based global private bank Merrill Lynch as regional counsel for the Asia/Australia region, and before that in private practice with a major US law firm.With over 24 years in the legal/financial industry, he leads with a global perspective and is skilled at working with senior stakeholders to achieve thoughtful and practical outcomes that balance global priorities with local considerations, and brings a strategic outlook as well as depth of experience and common sense to the table.
