Provide administration and supervision of the staff of the Bureau of Rehabilitation Services within the Community Living Programs including: independent living, assistive technology, deaf and hard of hearing counseling, benefits counseling, driver training and worker’s rehabilitation. Oversight of policy development and implementation of casework practices to assure consistency with state and federal laws and regulation. Program and strategy development relative to the agency’s State Plans for Vocational Rehabilitation, Independent Living and Assistive Technology.

Promoted and provided oversight for public school choice programs supporting educational opportunities for over 100,000 students in 166 school districts. In charge of a $260M budget. Managed a team of eight employees. Improved program designs and outcomes. Led a 22-member committee that developed the state’s first operational guidelines and best practices for alternative schools. Won unanimous adoption by the State Board of Education. Played a key role in implementation in the field.Justified financial support of magnet school programs. Created and presented to the General Assembly a landmark report that provided a detailed account of the history of enrolled students, compliance, attrition and the overall value of the programs. Won support of continuing investment of school choice in CT.Managed change, prepared for the future. A new state law changed charter school requirements for grantees. Co-created and implemented a framework and developed processes to guide a new generation of charter schools through inception to charter renewal that earned State Board of Education approval. Magnet schools increased from 54 to 91, yielding a clear return on investment despite calls for fiscal austerity in state educational programming. Developed a comprehensive plan and report that became the General Assembly’s guide for new funding and greater equity of programming. Increased number of charter schools from 16 to 24.

Appointed spokesperson after predecessor’s departure. Created press releases, planned events and press conferences. Managed editing, design, printing, posting and distribution of on-line and print materials. Led a team of eight employees.Ensured passage and support of landmark education reform. Assisted in creating press releases, press conferences, and all related events to push the Governor's education agenda, gain support for Education Reform and attain passage of legislation. Responsible for the development and coordination of the magnet school program in CT and for the oversight of individual schools.
