We are the umbrella body of the Rivers Trust movement, working to protect, promote and enhance our freshwater ecosystems for both people and wildlife.With the support of over 60 member Trusts across the UK and Ireland, we work on the ground, in the heart of the community, to promote a sustainable future for our river environments.Originally named the ‘Association of Rivers Trust’ in 2001, we were granted charitable status in 2004 and later changed our name to ‘The Rivers Trust’ in 2011.We are proud members of Blueprint for Water, Wildlife and Countryside Link and are administrators of the Catchment Based Approach.

I ran these two organisations in parallel having set them up in 2009. The Angling Trust is the representative membership body for all anglers in England and is recognised as the National Governing Body for angling. It campaigns for the protection and improvement of fish and fishing, and has a number of programmes of work funded by government to promote angling participation and environmental stewardship. It also runs hundreds of fishing competitions and manage a wide range of England fishing teams.Fish Legal is a membership association that takes legal action and advises its member angling clubs and fisheries throughout the UK. It is fighting more than 50 civil legal cases against polluters and others who damage its members' fisheries. The two organisations work in a close and permanent partnership and share many business functions. They are only separate for legal regulatory reasons. The Angling Trust was formed in 2009 following a merger of 6 angling organisations (now totalling 10). Fish Legal was previously known as the Anglers' Conservation Association and was founded in 1948. It changed its name when it became associated with the Angling Trust.

Leader and public face of the ACA, a 10,000-strong membership organisation founded in 1948 to use the law and campaign to combat water pollution throughout the UK. Was recruited to address management failures and successfully transformed the business. Led a team of 7, including the work of a legal department. In 2006, conceived and founded the Blueprint for Water (www.blueprintforwater.org.uk) with 20 other NGOs. Led the merger of angling organisations, including the ACA, into the Angling Trust and Fish Legal.

Volunteer founder, project officer, director and then, from 2003, CEO of Thames21 Ltd. (www.thames21.org.uk), a registered charity and partnership between the Port of London Authority, Thames Water, the Environment Agency, Encams, British Waterways, the Corporation of London and 19 local authorities. By 2005, it employed 17 staff and turned over £1m p.a., to transform the Thames, its tributaries and the canal network in London.
